Growing Art In The Garden

Cecile Garrison

Gourd Grower | Artist | Writer

Cecile has grown the Lagenaria gourd over thirty years. She is an organic farmer with a passion for pushing the growing limits. She shares her knowledge with schools,  garden clubs, Home & Garden shows and other venues. She was a guest speaker at the San Francisco Home and Garden Show and the International Farm Show in Tulare, CA.

Cecile taught herself to cut, carve, sand, burn and stitch this wood-like gourd before she discovered the wide world of gourds on the internet. Now she invites accomplished artists/instructors from several states to teach classes at her studio.

Her work has been on display at Arts Visalia, the COS Art Gallery, Yerba Buena Center for The Arts in San Fransciso, The Arts Consortium, the Visalia Convention Center and the Tulare Historical Museum. She also displayed her work at the Tulare Historical Museum in Tulare, CA and she had a solo show at the John Ginsburg Gallery in Visalia, CA.

Gourds are my hobby and my fascination! I’m a small scale Gourd grower and I have been a budding Gourd Artist since 1998. I may never bloom as an artist but I absolutely love watching Gourds grow, mature and cure! Every day is an adventure. – Cecile Garrison

Every Day Is An Adventure

Our mission is to excite friends, family and the public about the absolute thrill of gardening, especially growing gourds! Ernie does all the hardscapes like pathways, arbors & benches. I’m the official weeder, planter, waterer and general maintenance person.
We have several acres of plums but the most fun we have is growing the gourds as pictured here among the flowers!
